The grand 15th edition of the Hockey World Cup 2023 has set off to a blistering start with the opening ceremony scheduled at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. India is hosting this year’s tournament under the aegis of the International Hockey Federation.

The event will be held in the home of Hockey in India, the East-Coast state of Odisha from 13 January to 29 January 2023. A total of 16 teams will be competing with each other for the prestigious title of World Cup in field hockey.

India won the bid for hosting Hockey World Cup, while vying alongside Belgium and Malaysia for it, which was announced in 2019. After the postponement of the 2020 Summer Olympics, the quota of places available through continental championships including the World Cup hosts was increased from six to sixteen.

Details about Hockey World Cup 2022:

The FIH Men's Hockey World Cup 2023 will be held in the Indian state of Odisha. The matches will be held at two stadiums, Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar and Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium in Rourkela.

The entire capacity of the newly inaugurated Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium stands at 20,000 which makes it the largest Hockey stadium in the world. Apart from the following event the stadium will also be hosting 2023’s Men’s FIG Pro League.

Men’s Hockey World Cup 2023 Timing and Live streaming:

The matches between the 16 teams will be played at different times 1:00 pm, 3:00 pm, 5:00 pm, and 7:00 pm at Indian Standard Time (IST), It can be watched on Star Sports, while the streaming will go live on Disney Hotstar.

The 16 teams are divided into four pools which are like:

Pool A:

Argentina, Australia, France, and South Africa.

Pool C:

Chile, Malaysia, Netherlands, and New Zealand.

Pool D:

England, India, Spain, and Wales.

Team India’s Schedule:

• India will lock horns with Spain in the tournament opener on the opening matchday, i.e. January 13th at 7 PM.

• On Sunday, January 15th India will meet England again at 7 PM.

• In the final group game, India will take on Wales on January 19th, Thursday in the night game.
