The Deputy Commissioner informed that four individuals died while five are undergoing treatment and the remaining have been discharged from the hospital. A factory in Daba Road Industry Area in Ludhiana, Punjab collapsed causing the accident.

Ludhiana, April 6: Punjab Food, Civil, Supplies and ConsumerAffairs Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu and Industry and Commerce Minister SunderSham Arora on Tuesday morning visited and inspected the site in Baba MukandSingh Nagar where a roof of a four-storeyed auto-part factory collapsed onMonday, killing four and injuring seven workers, while illegally raising thelevel of lintel with jacks. 

Accompanied by MLA Sanjay Talwar, Deputy CommissionerVarinder Kumar Sharma, Commissioner of Police Rakesh Agrawal, Mayor BalkarSingh Sandhu, MC Commissioner Pardeep Kumar Sabharwal, Punjab State IndustrialDevelopment Corporation (PSIDC) chairman KK Bawa, OSD to CM Ankit Bansal, theMinisters called the incident very unfortunate and saddened and said that allpossible assistance is being provided to the affected families and otherinjured. 

They said that a probe to find out the negligence on thepart of any government official would be carried out to fix the responsibilityand made it cleared whether a public servant or any other would not be sparedif found complicit in this mishap. 

They added that Punjab Government led by Chief Minister CaptAmarinder Singh had already announced a high-level probe by the PatialaDivisional Commissioner and Rs 2 lakh compensation each for the families ofdeceased besides free treatment for the injured labourers. 

The Cabinet Ministers further appealed to the people to notput any life at risk for their vested interest and take proper permission fromconcerned authorities if the work is allowed as per law besides ensuring allsafety standards during the construction. 

Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma told bothministers that NDRF along with SDRF, MC, Fire brigade, and local police havebeen working tirelessly since Monday morning and have rescued 36 labourers outof which five are under treatment among two are critical and others weredischarged after giving first aid. He said that two persons in criticalcondition are undergoing treatment at SPS Hospital while three at CivilHospital Ludhiana. 

Commissioner of Police Rakesh Agrawal also disclosed to themthat a case has been registered against the owner and contractor and teams arebehind to nab them. 

Prominent among present occasion included Additional DeputyCommissioner Amarjeet Singh Bains, Joint CP Rural Sachin Gupta, SDM AmrinderSingh and others.
