MLA Raman Arora presented in court; sent to 4-day remand

In a major development, the Vigilance Bureau of Punjab arrested Aam Aadmi Party MLA Raman Arora under corruption charges. The arrest was made in Jalandhar, Punjab. 

On May 29, Thursday, he was presented in the court after his remand for five days ended. According to the preliminary information, the remand for Raman Arora has been increased for more than four (4) days following the request by the officials of the Vigilance Bureau

While presented in the court, arguments were presented by the lawyers of both sides; however, there was no particular change in the arguments from either side. Reportedly, no new argument was presented by the officials of Vigilance. 

The reports have claimed that the names of three people were written in front of the court. 

Property Registry Matter - 

It is to be noted that in the matter of property registry, the court saw all relevant documents which were presented to them. The statements of a few individuals have already been recorded; however, no specific statement was recorded by Vigilance, concerned by the three individuals. But the officials have confirmed that the names of three individuals, identified as Raju, Rajan, and Mahesh Bakshi, were submitted to the court. 

Remand for 4-days - 

Certain reports have outlined that arguments were presented by the lawyers of both sides, following which the court ordered an extended remand for four (4) more days. Vigilance had asked for a 7-day remand of Raman Arora, according to reports. There was a large police force deployed outside the court premises for security during the hearings.

Vigilance informed the court that Samadhi (relative by marriage) of MLA, his son Rajan Arora, and Mahesh Khamija were accused in the case. As per sources, Vigilance has found strong evidence. It is reported that the MLA accepted his son used to deal with Municipal Corporation-related issues and often used to accompany party workers to have work done there.

Therefore, Vigilance has filed a case against the three of them and will probably approach the court for arrest warrants.

Separately, a Lookout Circular has been put out to the Airport Authority. It has been revealed that the MLA Raman Arora had bought land worth crores in the names of relatives or close family friends. Seven teams have been deployed by Vigilance to probe further.

In the meantime, CCTV footage of the location was checked to track three bags. MLA's Samadhi and Makhija were involved in making the bags go missing, it was found.
