Pakistani wicket-keeper batter Muhammad Rizwan on Saturday sparked global outrage after he refused to shake hands with 'female' family members of former Australian cricketer Glenn McGrath's family. On Saturday, the Pakistan vs Australia 3rd Test concluded with the Kangaroos sealing the series 3-0 at the iconic Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). Australia whitewashed Pakistan in the three-match test series and the newly appointed captain Shan Masood's stint for Pakistan did not get an ideal start. However, it was Muhammad Rizwan's not shaking hands with female family members of the former Australian legendary cricketer that sparked a row.
In the viral video, it was seen that all the Pakistani players donned pink caps, entering the SCG and shaking hands with Glenn McGrath's family. However, when Rizwan's turn came he did not shake his hands despite the fact the women present there extended their hands.
For those who are unaware, Australia vs Pakistan 3rd Test was called the 'Pink Test'. The iconic Pink Test was organized by the McGrath Foundation to spread awareness about breast cancer. It encourages fans to wear pink on Day 3 of the year's first Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground. The Pink Test initiative was started after McGrath's wife Jane, passed away battling the disease in 2008. Its motive is to have more nurses to support breast cancer patients.
