
Hindi Diwas is celebrated on September 14, every year in our country. The day marks the adaption of the Hindi language as the “National language” of the country by the first Prime Minister of the nation Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.
Hindi was adopted in the Devanagari script as one of the official languages in different Hindi-speaking states of India. Hindi written in Devanagari script was adopted as one of the official languages, under Article 343 of the Indian Constitution. In all, there are 22 Scheduled languages of India. Hindi was adopted as one of the two official languages of India due to the efforts of Beohar Rajendra Simha along with Hazari Prasad Dwivedi, Kaka Kalelkar, Maithili Sharan Gupt and Seth Govind Das.
The day is celebrated to honour and promote the official language of the nation.
