The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) told the Supreme Court of India (SC) that it is not possible to conduct the CA examinations online.

A bench of justices, including AM Khanwilkar, Dinesh Maheshwari and Sanjiv Khanna, urged the ICAI to disclose the steps taken to ensure the safety of students and publish the measures on its website concerning COVID-19.

Senior advocate Ramji Srinivasan told that the ICAI must assure the guidelines and safety behaviours released by the Ministry of Home Affairs are followed. It also asked the institute that student safety is their priority, thus no exam centres should fall in covid containment zones.

Representing the petitioners, Advocate Bansuri Swaraj said that a few CA exam centres are in containment zones.
