Operation Sindoor” was launched by the Indian military targeting nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir, which is also known as PoK. The operation was conducted with the help of precision-guided missiles and drones. 

This strike was a response to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which killed around 23 civilians. India launched this strike on May 7, 2025, and targeted major base camps, including Jaish-e-Mohammad and Lashkar-e-Taiba. 

This operation was performed by the Indian Air Force (IAF) between 1:05 am and 1:30 am IST.

Launch of Missiles -

The latest and up-to-date missile technology was used by the Indian Military, including precision-guided missiles and drones. The major targets under this operation were terror camps within Pakistan and the PoK regions. 

It is noteworthy that the missiles were launched from Indian territory, which targeted the infrastructure.

To conduct Operation Sindoor successfully, the Indian Military used weapons like - 
Precision-guided missiles. 
Suicide Drones, which are also known as Loitering Munitions.

The Targets -

According to the official release by the government of India, the major targets of the attack were nine terror camps, including the headquarters of terror groups like Jaish-e-Mohammad and Lashkar-e-Taiba. 

Along with this, Bahawalpur, Muridke, and Sialkot - these sites were also targeted. 

The Name - 

It is believed that the name “Sindoor” represents the red vermilion powder worn by Hindu women after marriage and it also symbolized the blood of the victims of the terror attack.
