Ever since Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut announced her upcoming movie Manikarnika Returns:  The Legend Of Didda, the actress is facing a lot of criticism. A fresh row erupted after Ashish Kaul, who is the author of the book ‘Didda-Kashmir Ki Yodha Rani’, accused Kangana of plagiarism and violating his sole rights.

Kaul also slammed Kangana and said, "She has blatantly violated my sole rights; it is illegal and an absolute violation of the IPR and copyright laws of the same country that she swears by. I find it so brazen and hideous and I am still inclined to believe that Kangana has been misguided."

Now, producer Kamal Jain has broken his silence on the accusations of Kaul. In an interview with ABP News, Kamal said, "This film has nothing to do with Ashish Kaul's book. This is a 1000-year-old story that is in the public domain. In such a situation, to say that our film is based on his book is utterly wrong. Our film has nothing to do with his book."

"When a story is so old and public, any person has the right to make films on it. Far from reading, I have never heard of Ashish Kaul's book. Go to Google and see how many materials and articles are available on Didda. Our film has not taken any inspiration from his book," added Kamal.

Didda was the Queen of Kashmir who defeated Mehmood Ghaznavi twice in battle. Her one leg was polio-stricken but she was one of the greatest warriors. Kangana plans to complete her ongoing commitments first and then start shooting for the new film in January 2022.
