Patiala: Drug traffickers in Thar ram Head Costable at Check Point in a bid to escape, cop hospitalised

In Patiala, Punjab drug traffickers attacked a CIA staff head constable by ramming their car into his vehicle. The head constable was attempting to stop the car in response to information about drug trafficking. However, the driver of the car fled after reversing the vehicle. After reversing the car, the head constable was directly hit by it, causing an injury to one of his legs. The injured officer, Cheema, was first taken to a hospital in Samana and then transferred to Patiala for more treatment. He is currently getting medical care there.

Husnpreet Singh Cheema, the officer, mentioned that he and his team of four constables had set up a checkpoint at the Patiala grain market. They signaled the Thar car to stop based on the information they had received. However, when they asked the driver to open the car's door, the driver tried to escape by reversing the car. During this backward movement, the car first hit a pole and then collided directly with the officer. The driver of the car, who lives in Badshahpur Ugoke, has been identified.

Harmanpreet Singh, in charge of the Patran Police Station, has stated that an investigation into the incident is currently ongoing. After a thorough examination of the entire situation, further steps will be taken.
