Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched three big projects costing Rs 10,000 crore in Gorakhpur of Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday. Notably, Gorakhpur is the home turf of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The three megaprojects inaugurated by the Prime Minister of India are - a fertiliser factory for Rs 8,603 crore, an All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) worth Rs 1,011 crore and a hi-tech lab of the Indian Council of Medical Research-Regional Medical Research Centre (ICMR-RMRC).

"The establishment of the fertiliser plant and AIIMS in Gorakhpur sends out a number of messages. When the government has two engines, takes place at double speed. Even calamities cannot become obstacles when work is done with good intentions," Modi stated to the crowd.

  • As per the officials, the fertiliser plant, which costs Rs 8,603 crore, will produce 12.7 lakh metric tonnes of neem-coated urea per year, and the initiative will not only benefit farmers but also provide 20,000 direct and indirect job opportunities for youth.

  • Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Gorakhpur and hailed him for launching the development projects, saying, "Modi hai Toh Mumkin hai."

  • "The inauguration ceremony today is a dream come true for the people of East UP, which the opposition thought was impossible. In the previous 30 years, five governments have ruled UP. Only the BJP government dared to open this fertiliser factory in Gorakhpur," said Yogi Adityanath.

  • PM Modi praised the Yogi Adityanath government for focusing on development projects in the state while speaking to a crowd in Gorakhpur.

  • "When a government is concerned about the oppressed and underprivileged, it works hard and gets results. Nothing is impossible for the new India when it is determined," Prime Minister Modi stated.

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the Yogi government has made steps to improve the state's infrastructure, emphasising that health care services should be available to all citizens.

"Previously, samples from encephalitis patients in Gorakhpur were transferred to Pune for confirmation, but by the time the diagnosis was made, the patient had died or been paralysed. We opened a regional viral research facility in Gorakhpur today to screen for coronavirus, encephalitis, and other disorders," he stated.

  • Further addressing the crowd over urea, PM Modi said that "Before 2014, there was a urea scarcity that made news; however, the situation has since improved. We've eliminated the misuse of urea while maintaining a 100 percent neem coating. We've provided soil health cards to millions of farmers so they can figure out what kind of fertiliser their crops need. We put a lot of emphasis on boosting urea production."

  • The PM also lauded the Adityanath government, saying "sugarcane dues the BJP govt paid to farmers in 4.5 years is more than the amount paid by previous UP governments in 10 years."

  • Meanwhile, taking a jibe at the opposition, PM Modi said those who question the timing of project inaugurations don't realise the amount of effort and time that goes into putting them together. "Those wearing red caps are only interested in the chair. They are red alert, posing a threat to the state."

  • PM Modi stated that the 'red caps' want to form a government that will be lenient towards terrorists and will free them from jail.

"The entire UP now knows that they had nothing to do with your discomfort or problems. They want power for a variety of reasons, including frauds and filling their coffers, illegal encroachment, and granting freedom to the mafia," he added.
