Multiple districts of Punjab, including Jalandhar, have witnessed isolated rainfall in the past few days. Jalandhar City on Friday afternoon witnessed isolated rainfall. But, a bright sunny weather amped up the temperature once again. In the meantime, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) of Chandigarh unit on Friday made fresh rainfall predictions in Punjab and has put multiple districts on orange alert for 'heavy to very heavy' rainfall alert. Punjab Thunderstorm Prediction July 2025

  • July 5- Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Hoshiarpur, Rupnagar, Mohali
  • July 6- On Orange Alert- Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar. Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Nawanshahr, Rupnagar, Mohali, and Fatehgarh Sahib (all are on very heavy rainfall alert)
    On yellow alert- Tarn Taran, Ludhiana, Patiala, and Sangrur
  • July 7- On Orange Alert- Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar. Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Nawanshahr, Rupnagar, Mohali, and Fatehgarh Sahib (all are on very heavy rainfall alert)
    On yellow alert- Tarn Taran, Ludhiana, Patiala, and Sangrur
  • July 8- Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, Rupnagar, and Mohali

Punjab Temperature Update

IMD Chandigarh has also shared a daily temperature forecast. As per the weather department, Bathinda was the hottest on Friday at 37.9°C. Amritsar was 36.5°C, Ludhiana- 35°C, Patiala- 35.3°C, Pathankot- 34.3°C, Faridkot- 37°C, Gurdaspur- 32°C, Jalandhar- 35.2°C, etc.

How will the monsoon be in July 2025?

The India Meteorological Department has forecast an above normal exceeding 106% of the Long Period Average (LPA), for the month of July 2025. Speaking at a virtual press conference organised by the weather agency on June 30, Dr. Mrutyunjay Mohapatra, Director General of Meteorology at IMD, stated that many parts of the country are likely to experience normal to above-normal rainfall.

However, IMD also stated that most parts of Northeast India & many parts of East India, extreme South Peninsular India, and some areas of Northwest India are likely to receive below-normal rainfall.)
