The counting of votes for Lok Sabha elections 2024 started at 8 am on 4th June. As per the updates, that have come, Congress is leading in Punjab with 7 seats, AAP is at second position with 3 seats. SAD is winning over 1 seat and on the remaining 2 seats independent parties are winning. It is a big jolt for BJP after the claims made by Pm Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. They claimed to win in Punjab and replace the existing government. They further add that the people of Punjab will vote for BJP as they have faith in them. However, the results tell a different story. BJP has won no seats in Punjab.

This result has come as a big relief for AAP in the state. Although the party is not maintaining a lead, they are relieved that NDA alliance has not won. The bureaucrats and politicians were sure that if BJP came to power in Punjab, the first thing they would do is to target Punjab government. AAP was fearful that BJP might start Operation Lotus in Punjab if it won the majority seats. After the results, that tension has gone away. Congress’s win is also what has made AAP a bit tense. Both Congress and AAP will now be preparing for the elections of 2029.
