Amid signs of realignment in the Punjab Congress, all Rajyasabha and Lok Sabha MPs from Punjab will meet at the residence of Rajyasabha MP Partap Singh Bajwa on Sunday noon.

Sources claimed that the delegation has sought time to call on Congress High Command after the meeting. Though the agenda of the meeting is not open yet but it is learnt that the delegation would appraise the Party High Command about the possible fall out within the party cadre if Sidhu reportedly appointed to the post of Punjab Congress President.

All India Congress Interim President Sonia Gandhi is expected to address party MPs from India through video Conferencing in which she will set agenda to counter the government during the upcoming monsoon session of the Parliament.

Notably, after the hectic political developments during the day, Captain had a meeting with Rajya Sabha MP, his one- time bete noire Partap Singh Bajwa, besides Cabinet Minister Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi and Speaker Rana KP Singh on Saturday night.

While tweeting a picture of the meeting, Manish Tiwari, Anandpur Sahib MP posted: “Good to see Partap Bajwa and Capt Amrinder Singh together along with our Speaker, Rana KP Singh and Rana Sodhi. Partap, who I have known since 1983, and Captain Sahib would make a good team… He is an old, dyed-in-the-wool-Congress man.”

Sources claims that Rajya Sabha MPs Ambika Soni and Partap Singh Bajwa are not favouring Sidhu’s name for the Post of Punjab Congress President while Shamsher Singh Dulo has not opened his cards as yet.

Similarly majority of Lok Sabha MP s including Gurmit Singh Aujla, Manish Tiwari, Santokh Singh Chaudhery, Jasbir Singh Dimpa, Ravnit Bittu, and Preneet Kaur are reportedly opposing the candidature of Sidhu but MP Mohammad Sadique has reportedly been sided with Sidhu.

The overnight developments have further widened the fault line within the Congress leaders in the state and in such a situation it will be difficult for the Party High Command to take a final call on Sidhu’s coronation as assembly elections in the state are just a few months away.
