Sardool Sikander was a legendary folk singer of Punjab. His untimely demise at Fortis Hospital, Mohali on Wednesday shocked his fans and especially Punjabi music industry. As per reports, he was fighting with Covid-19 for nearly two months.

Sardool Singer was the husband of Amar Noorie. His wife is also a popular singer and actor. He was born on January 15, 1961 at village Kheri Naudh Singh of district Fatehgarh Sahib in Punjab. He also acted in the prominent film "Jagga Daku." His first album became very famous and the song "Roadways Di laari" left an imprint in the hearts on people.

Sikander made his first appearances on radio and television.

Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh expressed grief and tweeted, "Extremely saddened to learn of the demise of legendary Punjabi singer Sardool Sikander. He was recently diagnosed with #Covid19 and was undergoing treatment for the same. The world of Punjabi music is poorer today. My heartfelt condolences to his family and fans."

Sikander's movie Jagga Daku became very popular in Punjab. Reportedly, Sardool belongs to Patiala Gharana of music. As per reports, he has over 27 albums to his credit. Sardool Sikander's album "Husna de Malko" released in 1991. It sold 5.1 million copies worldwide.

According to Gaana.com, the late singer has 692 songs and 156 albums to his credit. The whole world is remembering him and sharing their grief at the loss of an icon. The world and the Punjabi culture in particular has lost of a man with whose songs we all have shared so many emotional moments of our life.

Sardool Sikander Family

Sardool Sikander is survived by his two sons and his wife Amar Noorie. Sarang Sikander and Alaap Sikander are his two sons.

Sikander also sang religious songs, solo as well as with his wife Noorie. Today, the world has lost one of its versatile singers. His songs are still played in weddings as well as during driving.
