Punjab Congress Chief Navjot Singh Sidhu, who has been claiming the CM face for several months quietly gave up on his dream and agreed to make Charanjit Singh Channi the CM face of Congress in Punjab. Sidhu’s consent was not expected by anyone in this decision.
What led Sidhu to agree with the party and announce Channi as Congress chief ministerial candidate for Punjab Elections 2022?
According to sources, there were certain conditions on which both Sidhu and Rahul Gandhi’s party agreed. After this mutual agreement, Channi’s name was announced by Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi during his virtual rally in Ludhiana on Sunday.
Here are some of those secret terms:
- Sidhu will be given some other big position in the party. He will retain as much power as CM.
- Sidhu will be assigned the responsibility to eliminate – Drug, Sand, Cable and Transport Mafias from Punjab.
- The bureaucrats to eliminate the mafias will be selected by Sidhu. All DGP’s, SSP’s, DC appointments will be done in accordance with him.
- All political appointments will be done by Sidhu and he will make sure that no position will be assigned to any relatives of MLA’s or Ex- bureaucrats.
The above four conditions are a part of Sidhu’s agreement with the party. If Channi wins then these conditions will apply. In case, if Channi loses, the entire blame will go on the head of Channi. Even if Congress wins or loses elections, Sidhu will have an upper hand in the party.
