Happy Birthday Asha Bhosle: See what the veteran singer wishes as she turns 88

Asha Bhosle, who is celebrating her 88th birthday today, says all she wants to do is contribute her voice to good songs.

Happy Birthday Asha Bhosle.The veteran singer turns 88 today.

Every year, renowned vocalist Asha Bhosle prefers peaceful family time over big birthday celebrations, and her 88th birthday on September 8 will go on like thos only. “It's been a long time since I've celebrated my birthday. Simple sa hota hai mahul ghar mein, aur bacche cake kaat lete hain. Zyada ya party kuch nahi hota. For me, birthdays are not a significant occasion. Us din toh buddhe hote hai. “It's something that youngsters celebrate,” Bhosle admits, adding, "I celebrated my 75th birthday once." We welcomed every singer I've worked with and with whom I have a close relationship.Uske baad, I requested that my family not hold a party. I'll be at Lonavala this year with my daughter-in-law and granddaughter.”

“Earlier, I would spend my birthday at the music studio,” Bhosle recalls. "On my birthday, many people in the industry, including Shankar–Jaikishan and RD Burman would keep a recording on that day and phir sab milkar dhol, tashe, tabla bajate they."

The singer of Chura Liya Hai, Piya Tu Ab Toh Aa Ja, and Dum Maro Dum has been rendering songs for nearly eight decades, and one thing that has remained constant throughout that time is her dedication to her work, which she continues to demonstrate by spending her days doing riyaaz for classical music. “However, when it comes to the professional realm, all I want to do is sing very wonderful songs.

‘Suna hai ab aap gaati nahin ho,' he said. Aisa kuch nahin hai, I told him. She says, "I just worked on a song for a Marathi film.”

When asked if she has considered retiring, the singer answers she hasn't. “I did three live concerts right before the epidemic. Many of my performances were cancelled as a result of the Covid-19 problem. Toh puri duniya hi baith gai, pandemic mein. “All I want to do now is bring things back to normal so I can resume my live shows,” Bhosle reveals.
