Sonu Sood to be brand ambassador of Special Olympics Bharat; Lead India's contingent in SO World Winter Games 2022

On his birthday, actor Sonu Sood has not only become a brand ambassador for India's Special Olympics movement, but he has also revealed that he will be accompanying India's delegation to the Special Olympics World Winter Games in Russia next year.

Sonu Sood, a Bollywood actor, has been a brand ambassador for Special Olympics Bharat. Sonu spoke with the Special Athletes at a virtual event attended by over 500 athletes, coaches, families, officials, and volunteers, answering their questions while admiring and applauding their athletic successes.

The opening session introduced him to the #WalkForInclusion, a Special Olympics Asia Pacific Region effort exhibited by the athletes, marking his introduction into the Special Olympics movement's Inclusion Revolution.

"Today is a very special day for me, and I am happy to join this journey of inclusion with Special Olympics Bharat," Sonu said of his role as ambassador. “Every Special Olympics Athlete redefines the human spirit by standing up in the face of adversity via their sporting successes.”

He said, “I wish them all the best of luck in their efforts to do their best and confidently display their abilities, which would send a strong statement to the public that they deserve to be mainstreamed. I am honoured to be a part of the Special Olympics Bharat family, and I pledge to help grow this platform and make it more accessible to individuals around the country. SO Bharat has my support. "I am a strong supporter of the Inclusion Revolution.”

Sonu will lead the Special Olympics Bharat Athletes team that will compete at the Special Olympics World Winter Games in Kazan in January 2022.

He stated, " "I am honoured to be able to travel to Russia with our team for the Special Olympics World Winter Games. We shall all work together to encourage our athletes to do their best and cheer them on with such zeal that the roar of support will be heard all the way back in India.”

"I would to express my thanks to Sonu Sood for accepting our invitation to join the Special Olympics family," Mallika Nadda, Chairperson of Special Olympics Bharat, stated. We are confident that he will play a significant role in reshaping the Special Olympics movement in India and advancing the cause of people with intellectual disabilities around the world.

She concluded, “Sonu Sood has already expressed his support for Special Olympics Bharat, and we are delighted that he will now lead the Special Olympics movement.
