Ruling out any chances of reconciliation of the family, the LJP leader Chirag Paswan said that he had been betrayed by his uncle and cousin when he needed them the most.

Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) leader Chirag Paswan on Sunday had held a meeting with the party’s national executive and declared that 90 per cent of the members who were present at the meeting have shown support to his leadership. After the meeting, Chirag spoke to the media and said that ninety per cent of working committee members of the national executive are with him.

“Except for Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir, the presidents of all other states are with us,” he said.

Paswan also questioned the number of party leaders supporting a faction headed by his rebel uncle Pashupati Kumar Paras.

Last week, Paras had also announced the appointment of a new national executive.

"He (Pashupati Paras) had only nine people with him. He should tell how many people were on his working committee," Chirag said, noting that no photo or video clip of the new national executive was there at the meeting that had been called by Pashupati Paras. Members who were present at the meeting were the same people who have been attending the meetings of the party's executive for the last many years, Chirag Paswan added.

Betrayal from uncle and party MP Prince Raj (who is Chirag’s cousin) was unexpected, said Chirag Paswan.

"This fight is like Mahabharata because my people stand opposite me," he said.

Chirag further added, "When I needed my uncle's blessing the most after the passing away of my father, he did this to us and his doing is before everyone. My father considered the party as a family.”

I was not scared even when father left this world, Chirag said, adding that he is fighting alone when his uncle is trying to break the party and he is ready to fight the battle in every way to saving the party symbol created by his father Ram Vilas Paswan, Chirag stated.

Excluding the possibility of the family reuniting again, Mr Chirag said: "I went to his house to talk to him, I had tried to keep the family together but he was not ready to accept it. If he would have told me that he wanted to become the leader of the parliamentary party and a minister, I would have accepted that" he said.

Talking about the alliance between the LJP and BJP, Chirag said his party was still with the BJP-led NDA.

"Hanuman was and will always be with Ram in sorrow and happiness, but now it is for Ram to see where Hanuman is," he asserted.

He said the party had an alliance with BJP in 2014 and not with JD(U) so the polls were contested separately in 2020.
