Mirabai Chanu, an Indian weightlifter, won a historic silver medal in the women's 49kg weightlifting tournament at the Tokyo International Forum. Tiger Shroff, a Bollywood actor, took to Instagram on Sunday to share his workout video, inspired from the Indian weightlifter. The actor can be seen in the video performing a set of squats while balancing the heavyweight on his shoulder.

Sharing the workout video, Tiger Shroff wrote: "140 kgs and counting So so inspired to get stronger and go beyond my limits thanks to #mirabaichanu what a performance! go team India! #tokyoolympics @mmamatrixgym @mirabai_chanu." See video here.

Mirabai, 26, was considered a medal contender for India at the Olympics, which began on Friday after a one-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Mirabai set a new world record in the clean and jerk (119kg) in a bronze-medal show of 205kg at the Asian Championships in Tashkent in April this year, just months before the Olympics.

Mirabai has finally completed a journey of redemption that began with her disappointment at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Her Olympic debut in the 48kg category was a disaster, as she failed to lift in all three clean and jerk efforts. Mirabai had to seek the assistance of a sports psychologist in order to recover from the events of Rio.

Mirabai completed the turnaround five years after Rio, having toughened up mentally and gained more experience, by becoming the second Indian woman and sixth individual overall to win a silver medal at the Olympics in Tokyo.
