Seriously mentioning that the healthcare system has alreadystretched a lot due to unprecedented hike in the Covid cases especiallylevel-III patients, Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma urged theresidents of the district to “hibernate” for the upcoming 14-days which would helpto flatten the second Covid wave which is more ferocious than the first one.

Interacting with residents during his weekly Facebooklive session on DPRO official page, Deputy Commissioner said that as thedevastating Covid-19 second wave has been tearing throughout the country, ithas also hit Ludhiana with more vengeance.

He said with a sudden surge in level-III patients whichrequire ventilator support and inflow of patients from other states includingNCR, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, and other parts of Punjab, the district administration was supplying 3600 oxygen cylinders daily to Ludhianahospitals.

Deputy Commissioner said that every system has its own limitationsand if people continue to be negligent towards Covid protocols, this willcreate conditions witnessing Delhi and Mumbai.

He said that we are sitting on the edge and the situation isalready serious here with reporting of 13-14 deaths daily.

Sharma said that it is high time for people to abet the stress of healthcare and other frontline force by staying indoors for the next twoweeks and adhering to Covid protocols.

He said that the administration is already pulling out allstops and taking concrete steps for the availability of oxygen/beds as it is ourresponsibility.
