TV star Karan Mehra arrested after actor wife Nisha Rawal files complaint alleging ‘domestic violence’

Nisha Rawal who is also a TV actor has alleged that her husband Karan had beaten her following a fight last night has been granted bail.

Popular television actor Karan Mehra, who played the ideal husband in the show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai - one of India’s longest-running TV daily soaps has been accused by his wife Nisha Rawal of beating her following a fight last night. Nisha, who is also an actress, filed a complaint against him in Goregaon police station Monday night (May 31). The  Mumbai Police said that a case has been registered against the 38-year-old actor, however, was shortly granted bail this morning after the arrest. 

The Goregaon Police have registered Karan under Indian Penal Code sections 336 (endangering human life or the personal safety others), 337 (causing hurt by an act which endangers human life), 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation).

There have been rumours doing rounds that Karan Mehra and Nisha Rawal's marriage have been going through troubles since early May. Karan, however, in an interview with Aajtak rubbished the rumours, and said, “I have no clue what led to these rumours all of a sudden. I saw this news today only and I have been getting calls from everywhere. When Nisha got the news, she had also cleared it. Even after that, I don’t know how these rumours started spreading.”

Nisha Rawal who is also a famous TV actor and a model has appeared in several TV commercials, including those for Coca Cola, Sunsilk shampoo among others and has also appeared in a few Bollywood movies.

Karan and Nisha were seen together in a dance reality show - "Nach Baliye", whereas celebrity couples compete with each other to win the trophy.

Karan was shooting in Punjab for a Punjabi show there named  Mawaan Thandiyan Chawan and returned to Mumbai after the Covid lockdown was imposed. 

They have a four-year-old son Kavish.
