Union Minister Hardeep Puri brings three swaroops of Sri Guru Granth Sahib out of Delhi airport

Following the Taliban's takeover of Afghanistan, three of the final six swaroops of the holy scripture, Sri Guru Granth Sahib, were evacuated from war-torn Afghanistan marking the end of an era.

After a special Air India plane carrying 44 Afghan Sikhs landed in the national capital from Dushanbe, Union minister Hardeep Puri was seen carrying three swaroops of Guru Granth Sahib out of Delhi airport. V Muraleedharan and RP Singh, both senior BJP leaders, were also present.

In the video shared by Union Minister from his official Twitter handle, Mr Puri could be seen carrying Sri Guru Granth Sahib on their heads and chanting ‘Satnam Sri Waheguru’ as they walk out of Delhi airport.

“Blessed to receive & pay obeisance to three holy Swaroop of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji from Kabul to Delhi a short while ago,” read another tweet by Mr Puri.
At least 77 people were evacuated from Kabul and escorted to Dushanbe.

Earlier, a video of Sikh men walking barefoot inside Kabul airport while carrying three swaroops of the 'Living Guru' went viral on August 23. The man who recorded the video can be heard thanking the Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi, the Indian government and the External Ministry of India. He on behalf of all the evacuees expressed gratitude towards India for refusing them from impending atrocities of the Taliban.

As the crisis in Afghanistan continues to escalate, people are thronging at the Kabul airport, as India is evacuating people from the war-torn country. On August 22, 168 people were evacuated by the Indian Air Force (IAF) C-17 aircraft that took off from Kabul and brought to the Hindon airbase, Ghaziabad, India. A total of 107 were Indian nationals and 23 were Afghan Sikhs onboard.

As the humanitarian and civic situation is worsening in Afghanistan, nations are scrambling to evacuate their citizens, while thousands of Afghani people are trying to escape the country's borders.
