Ina major step to ease out business activities in the district, DeputyCommissioner Ghanshyam Thori on Friday extended operational timing fornon-essential shops/establishments/offices by two hours thus allowing them tooperate from 9am to 5 am on weekdays.
Thedistrict administration had issued curbs orders a few days back, which were toremain in effect by May 21, 2021. Now, reviewing these orders the working hoursfor non-essential category has been increased to 5 pm from 3 pm.
Divulgingthe details, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said that all categories ofgoods/services including private enterprises, businesses and officers whichfall under the category of non-essential services can function from 9am to 5 pmbetween Monday-Friday till further orders.
Notably,the services falling under the category of essential services are allowed toopen from 7am to 5 pm daily, which would follow the same timings till any freshorders are issued. The DC further added that the step aimed at easing outbusiness activities in Jalandhar amid this ongoing health crisis as a largenumber of representatives from trade and industry had been demanding forfurther relaxations.
Mr.Thori further called upon people to strictly follow Covid appropriate behaviorin order to keep virus spread under check. He also urged shopkeepers to ensureproper adherence of norms like social distancing, using masks at market placeswhile ensuring business activities in a segregated manner.
