UP woman kills 3-year-old son after fight with husband for not taking to parents house, later attempts suicide

Kesh Kumari, a resident of Pure Baijnath village in Pratapgarh fought with her husband Rakesh after he refused to take her to her parents home on Holi, Additional Superintendent of Police (East) Surendra Dwivedi said.

Stopped from visiting her parents on Holi, a woman punished her husband by stabbing their three-year-old son to death and later tried to end her own life by slitting her throat. 

Kesh Kumari, a resident of Pure Baijnath village under the Antu police station area, had a confrontation with her husband Rakesh after he refused to take her to her parent's home on Holi, Additional Superintendent of Police (East) Surendra Dwivedi said.

The woman kept stabbing her son Yug, leading to his death and then tried committing suicide by slit her throat, while Rakesh was sleeping in the other part of their under-construction home, the police added.

Their neighbours after hearing the child’s scream arrived at the spot and found him dead while the woman was in a serious condition.

Police said Rakesh Verma, a resident of the Baijnath village in Uttar Pradesh, works as a labourer. He was building a new house away from his current residence. His wife Kesh Kumari wanted to visit her family for Holi but he refused to let her go, which resulted in a dispute between the two.

After the incident, on Monday evening the family quietly buried the child in their land without informing the police. The police spokesman said that on getting the information, the police unearthed the child’s body and sent for post mortem.

A case has been registered and the mother has been detained for questioning. The husband and other family members have also been detained.
