VP Venkaiah Naidu lauds Sushma Swaraj as a ‘dedicated, compassionate leader’

Today India remembered former External Minister Sushma Swaraj on her death anniversary and Vice President remembered her with a rich tribute.

On Friday, India remembered the youngest-ever cabinet member on her second death anniversary. Sushma Swaraj died on August 6, 2019, due to cardiac arrest. Tributes were poured by the netizens and politicians. 

Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu paid rich tribute to the former External Affair Minister and remembered her contribution towards Indian diplomacy.

Vice President took Twitter and wrote (in Hindi), “Today is the death anniversary of our sister Sushma Swaraj Ji. In the deep emptiness of the heart now reside only her fond memories. Memory remains! My regards Bhavanjali!!”

He further wrote, “Remembering my dear sister, Smt. Sushma Swaraj on her Punya Tithi today. She was a distinguished parliamentarian and an eloquent orator, who strove relentlessly for the empowerment of women & downtrodden sections. She was a dedicated leader whose compassion knew no bounds.”

Bansuri Swaraj remembered her mother and shared her picture as a cabinet minister in Haryana in 1977, with a picture she wrote (in Hindi), “Mother, you are my energy and flow in my veins, your conscience is involved in my decisions, and your ideals ignite my life path. O Krishna, you stole the mother, now save her.”

Sonali Jaitley Bakshi tweeted, “Some are remembered for their work, others are remembered for their words. Then some are loved & missed for both - as well as for simply being themselves. Remembering with reverence Smt SushmaSwaraj Ji on her Punyatithi.”

Sudharshan Pattnaik paid his tweet with sand art. His tweet read, “Humble tribute to Padma Vibhushan Lt Smt. #SushmaSwaraj Ji on her Death Anniversary. I am sharing one of my SandArt.”
