Several Pakistani cricketers criticized the pacer for his decision but Wasim felt that it is his choice and someone else should not have any problem.

Wasim told the Cricket Pakistan, “I still think he should have a place in the Pakistan side. We have three white-ball World cups coming this year. I have been saying for a long time that bowlers come in packs. When you have a senior bowler in the pack, he can guide you in a pressure situation. They can have quite an impact by giving confidence and providing them with options. I think Amir is so important for the Pakistani team.”

Akram further said, “If he had retired from Test cricket, by the way, it is his problem and decision. Why are we going against him if anyone is retired? Amir can get any league in the world, he is still one of the best bowlers of the world T20 cricket.”

In support of Amir, Wasim said, “A player knows about his body, especially a bowler. Test cricket is not easy. If you haven’t played first-class cricket for five years, then your muscles aren’t used to bowling that long. Amir should play his cricket. There is no point of all of this now. He had said what he wants to say ad had explained his side. Now, he must enjoy cricket and his family life.”
