As part daily press briefing, IGP Sukhchain Singh Gill on Thursday informed the media about Amritpal Singh's last location and how he has been successful doing the Punjab Police till now. Before the briefing, True Scoop News had broken the news that Amritpal Singh has escaped from Punjab and was located in Haryana. Now, IGP Sukhchain Singh Gill has confirmed this in the press briefing saying that on March 19, 2023, Amritpal Singh's last location was traced in Haryana's Kurukshetra and he was harbored by a local lady. Who was the woman that helped Amritpal Singh?
Sukhchain Singh Gill during the press briefing said, "As far as Amritpal's trail is concerned, our team is tracking him. CCTV footage was retrieved from several locations. There is a Sekhowal village that has a Gurudwara. They (Amritpal & his aides) changed their bike there as well and after that, tried to get a boat to cross the river. When they failed to get one, they used an old bridge to cross the river..After roaming around, they hired an auto. After this, the further movement was located in Kurukshetra, Haryana. Gurpej, who is in our custody, also told us about a woman to whom he (Amritpal) can go to seek harbour..So, with the help of Haryana Police, a woman - Baljeet Kaur - was arrested. It was found from the woman that on the night of 19th March, both Papalpreet Singh and Amritpal Singh stayed there. The woman has known Papalpreet for more than the last two years and he has stayed there several times."
"After staying the night, they moved out of there the next day. We are examining the CCTV footage, and we hope that we will soon arrest Amritpal Singh," added Punjab IGP Sukchain Singh Gill. It is pertinent to mention here that with the help of Haryana Police, a woman named Baljit Kaur has been arrested and an investigation is going on. Interestingly, IGP Punjab outlined that those saying that Amritpal Singh has already been arrested or is in Police custody are now proved wrong as there are multiple CCTV footage and photos that have come to the fore of him fleeing.
