Will Punjab CM son Raninder Singh appear before ED tomorrow?

If Raninder presents himself in Jalandhar's ED office tomorrow, whose turn will be next?

ED Enforcement-Directorate Punjab-CM

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned Punjab CM's son Raninder Singh in connection with its probe against him for allegeed forex investments.

ED has asked Raninder to appear before the agency on October 27.

Team Raninder Singh has officially confirmed that they received the summon by the ED.

Jaiveer Shergill, lawyer of Raninder Singh said, "My client Raninder Singh has received Enforcement Directorate summons. He is a law-abiding citizen and will continue to obey and follow due process of law. This is an old case and the timing of the summon is interesting and questionable."

However, team Raninder along-with other eminent party leaders has questioned the timing of summon in an old case of FEMA. This comes after Punjab CM Capt Amarinder Singh has passed three Farm Bills to safeguard the interest of state farmers against the Centre's newly enforced Farm Laws.

Former Chief Minister of Uttrakhand, Harish Rawat, who is now  Congress’ in-charge of Punjab affairs and an All India Congress Committee general secretary has also raised his voice over the timing of summon by ED.

"ED’s summons cannot suppress the voice of Amarinder Singh. Captain Amarinder Singh is the voice of Punjab and farmers of the country. Just look at the timing of ED’s summons. If you raise voice, then ED, Income Tax, CBI will be after you. Is this not a message?" tweeted Rawat.

On being asked about the Enforcement Directorate (ED) summoning his son Raninder Singh, Punjab CM said it was not the first time the agency had issued summons to his family.

According to the official sources, ED has prepared a questionnaire for Raninder Singh. But, it will be pertinent to see whether he will join the probe or not.

However, this is not the first time that Raninder Singh has been called for investigation. If  Raninder presents himself in Jalandhar's ED office tomorrow, whose turn will be next?

Notably, as per the political experts, this decision of Centre would not prove beneficial to them as Punjabis are agonized with them over the newly enforced Farm Laws. Consequently, Congress's vote bank in Punjab will emerge stronger and CM Amarinder Singh would be able to get some sympathy from natives.
