Sania Mirza won the women's doubles match at Wimbledon for the first time since 2017 with American partner Bethanie Mattek-Sands. On Thursday, the duo eliminated sixth seeds Desirae Krawczyk and Alexa Guarachi to advance to the second round.

In the first round of men's doubles, however, Rohan Bopanna and Divij Sharan were eliminated. Eduard Roger-Vasselin and Henri Kontinen, the 11th seeds, defeated the Indian pair. 6-7(6), 4-6.

When Mattek-Sands served the third game, which contained seven deuce points, the Indo-American combination was under pressure early in the match. After a sluggish start that included three double faults, the American eventually held the game after saving three break points.

Mirza and Mattek-Sands both had two chances to break their opponents, but the American missed a volley from the net, while Krawczyk, who is left-handed, served exceptionally well to eventually hold.

Guarachi missed a forehand at 15-30 in the 12th game, giving their opponents two set points. The Indo-American duo did not waste the opportunity, with Mirza finishing the set with an overhead smash.

When Mirza and Mattek-Sands broke Guarachi again in the second set, they took a 3-1 lead. With a 3-1 cushion at hand, Sania and her partner never looked back.
