Designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee faces massive backlash after the launch of his 'Intimate Fine Jewellery' ads. As pictures of the campaign went viral, netizens brutally trolledthe designer for using "semi-naked models" to advertise his new line.
Sabyasachi's official Instagram page posted a series of photos of models wearing the brand's newly unveiled mangalsutras.
The advertising campaign depicts heterosexual and same-sex couples posing for photos while wearing The Royal Bengal Mangalsutra, a piece from the designer's intimate jewellery collection. These images also show models wearing intimate clothing and a mangalsutra.
The campaign, on the other hand, did not go well with a section of the internet users, which has labelled the ad as 'obscene.' A series of ads for the label's Royal BengalMangalsutra 1.2 has particularly irked certain social media users.
Models in the promotional photoshoot wear the mangalsutra while posing alone or in intimate poses with others. In one of the photos, a female model wearing a black brassiere and themangalsutra rests her head on a shirtless male model.
Several individuals raised their displeasure on social media, claiming that the advertisement is an attack on Hindu culture and hurts religious sentiments.
