Deonar Cottage was iconic home Bollywood legendary actor Raj Kapoor. Situated in Chembur, Deonar Cottage witness many high profile Bollywood parties hosted by Raj Kapoor. In fact, the Kapoor family lived in Deonar Cottage for 60 long years. However, Deonar Cottage has now been sold and it has new owners.
As per reports, Deonar Cottage's new owner is Godrej. In 2023, Godrej Properties Ltd. (GPL) acquired Deonar Cottage for Rs 100 crore.
Furthermore, GPL’s acquisition adjoined RK Films and Studios, spread across 2.2 acres, which the company bought from the Kapoors in May 2019, for an estimated price between Rs 180-200 crore, to construct residential apartments and luxury retail space.
Reema Kapoor, Raj Kapoor's daughter, revealed why the family decided to sell Deonar Cottage. Reema Kapoor said-
"I remember what my mother had said. When we are no longer around, and all of you will be in your own homes, don't let this house go to ruin. Just sell it, let it go."
