The much-awaited Malayalam movie Ronth was released on JioHotstar on July 13, 2025. However, the movie has now gained its momentum as fans on social media are talking about the brilliant storyline in the movie.
Directed and written by Shahi Kabir, Ronth is a slow thriller that revolves around two Police officers of Kerala who are on a night patrol in the city just one or two days ahead of Christmas.
While actor Dileesh Pothan plays SI Yohannan, actor Roshan Mathew plays Dinanath who is a rookie cop. The answer is no. Ronth is an original story that revolves around two cops Yohannan and Dinanath who get framed of helping kidnappers that later ends in the murder of one of the victims.
In the movie Ronth, Dinanath and Yohannan go on a night patrol of the city. During their night patrol both of them solve many issues. During the night, they spot two men in a Gypsy. On being asked they say that they have come from Dubai and are not able to find the main roads.
Hence, both the officers help them and guide them to the main road. However, it later turns out to be that those two men were involved in kidnapping of two men who helped a girl flee from her house with her Muslim lover.
In the end, one of the men who were kidnapped was murdered. It was an honour killing. Both of the police were then arrested on fabricated charges of kidnapping as they were seen in CCTV helping out kidnappers.
Although not associated in any way with Ronth movie, there are cops who have been accused of kidnapping.
One of the real life cases was reported in October 2024. Five people, including a Delhi Police constable, who allegedly kidnapped two young stock traders from the city for Rs 1 crore ransom were arrested.
The accused individuals included- Sunil (32), constable of New Delhi Police Lines; Kuldeep (31) of Intal village in Jind; Rishipal (35) of Aawli village in Sonipat; Sonu (21); and Deepak (21) of Sector 10.
