Festive luck has indeed smiled this Diwali! An 11-year-old boy from Ludhiana has become a millionaire, winning the prize amount of ₹1 crore in the Punjab State Dear Diwali Bumper 2025 lottery draw.

The grand draw was held in Ludhiana, where prizes worth more than ₹36 crore were given away. The biggest prize of ₹11 crore belonged to a Bathinda-sold ticket, but the heartwarming story of the jackpot Ludhiana child took center stage.

The winning ticket and the lucky buy

The winning ticket, number A 438586, was sold at the famous Gandhi Brothers lottery shop in Ludhiana. The young winner, Aarav, originally from Hoshiarpur, lives with his maternal uncle Karan in Haibowal. Karan works in property dealing and said that the win happened because of Aarav’s insistence.

"We were passing by the Clock Tower area when Aarav suddenly said, 'Uncle, I want to win the lottery!' He was adamant, so we bought five tickets from Gandhi Brothers. That shop's last ticket turned out to be the lucky one," Karan said with a smile.

A celebration of dhol and sweets

Karan was viewing the live draw around 8 pm on YouTube. When he saw their number flash on screen, he couldn't believe his eyes. Within minutes, the neighborhood was filled with joy and noise. Drums were played, sweets were distributed, and people danced outside the shop.

While the winner of ₹11 crore from Bathinda is yet to be identified, the ticket number of the ₹11 crore jackpot winning ticket from Bathinda was A438586. The winning ticket was issued from Rattan Lottery Agency, Bathinda, but the identity of the winner has not been shared with the world as of now. According to the schedule, the draw was held in Ludhiana, and the announcement of the results happened on the same day live, but it has come out that the winner is still anonymous as per the latest updates.

But for little Aarav and his uncle, this Diwali will be remembered forever, a Diwali when a dream came true with just one ticket.
