In a major push for grassroots development, Punjab Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian on Friday approved ₹43.79 crore worth of development projects for Jalandhar under the state's flagship Rangla Punjab Vikas Scheme.
Chairing a high-level review meeting at the District Administrative Complex, the Minister described the initiative as a "path-breaking and visionary step" toward balanced infrastructure and civic growth, aligning with Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s mission to transform Punjab.
Flanked by MLAs Balkar Singh and Inderjit Kaur Mann, as well as other senior officials and party leaders, Mr. Khudian confirmed that each assembly segment in the district will receive ₹5 crore for comprehensive development.
"The government is committed to ensuring transparency, quality, and timely execution of all 755 projects sanctioned across Jalandhar’s nine constituencies," the Minister said, adding that ₹22.50 crore, the first installment, has already been released, with the remainder to follow soon.
He emphasized that the projects aim to significantly enhance local infrastructure, from roads and public utilities to rural and urban amenities.
Apart from development updates, the Minister also assured citizens that the state government is fully prepared to handle any emergency arising from potential floods. “We are constantly monitoring water levels in dams and catchment areas,” he stated.
Earlier, Khudian was welcomed by the district administration, with Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal assuring that the works under the scheme would be completed within deadline and to the highest standards.
Prominent dignitaries present included Commissioner of Police Dhanpreet Kaur, Punjab State Cooperative Bank Chairman Pawan Kumar Tinu, Municipal Commissioner Gautam Jain, AAP leaders Nitin Kohli, Dinesh Dhall, and Principal Prem Kumar.
