After months of delay and stalled timelines work on one of Jalandhar’s most troublesome stretches which is the Manbro Road stretch has finally picked up pace bringing a much-needed sense of relief for daily commuters who have been struggling with poor road conditions for a very long time now.
The stretch from GTB Nagar near Manbro Chowk to Ravidas Chowk which is also considered a crucial link in the city’s traffic network is now seeing active construction and repair work and confirming the development Mayor Vaneet Dhir said that work on the road is currently underway and progressing quickly after being stuck for months and assures the work would soon be completed giving a long awaited relief to the commuters.
For residents and commuters using Manbro Road daily the situation had become increasingly frustrating with broken patches, uneven surfaces, dust and traffic bottlenecks had turned even short distances into time-consuming journeys as the stretch is heavily used by office-goers, school transport and local businesses which made the delay even more noticeable but now with work moving at a faster pace people are hoping for a permanent solution to a long standing problem.
At this time Mayor Vaneet Dhir’s assurance has come as a sign of hope especially since this road has been one of the most talked-about problem areas in the city and locals say that while work has resumed timely completion will be key in restoring normal traffic flow and reducing daily inconvenience.
In contrast another important road stretch in the city from Dr BR Ambedkar Chowk to Workshop Chowk has recently been repaired offering smoother and faster travel and this route which passes through busy points like Football Chowk, Adarsh Nagar Chowk and Kapurthala Chowk had remained in poor condition for months before being fixed and its improvement has already led to better traffic movement and reduced congestion giving commuters a glimpse of what effective road repair can achieve.
Earlier the Municipal Corporation had set a March 31, 2026 deadline for completing several civic projects across Jalandhar and these included road repairs, park development, sanitation infrastructure and street upgrades however delays meant many of these projects overshot timelines but with the recent acceleration in work authorities appear to be trying to recover lost time but for now the focus remains firmly on Manbro Road which is a stretch that has tested public patience for months and is finally seeing visible action on the ground.
