The clock is ticking over India-US Trade Talks. US President Donald Trump has slapped India with a total of 50% tariffs. One of the reasons given by the US President is India buying Russian Oil and indirectly funding Russia-Ukraine War. In response, New Delhi clapped back and outlined list of items US buys from Russia. However, when a media personnel asked this question from Trump, he simply said he has no idea.
In the meantime, a university in Punjab has announced that it will impose a total ban and boycott of American soft drinks like Coco-Cola, Sprite, etc, if Trump does not withdraw the 50 percent tariff on India.
Lovely Professional University (LPU in Jalandhar, Punjab has announced boycott of US soft drinks.
"Why don't we boycott? I, as a Chancellor of LPU, as a citizen of Punjab, and as a Member of Parliament, I feel my decision is absolutely correct that if US imposes 50 percent tariff on India, then we will boycott every American beverage in Lovely Professional University. No American soft drinks will be sold in LPU. I have got many positive messages from around the world, ever since I announced the boycott of US soft drinks in LPU," said Chancellor and AAP Rajya Sabha MP, Ashok Mittal.
Ashok Mittal said, "In fact, former secretary of state of the US- John Kerry has said that the US is embracing a wrong policy with India. If India starts boycotting American products then US will suffer more. Why did we decide to boycott this? Because, the US is saying that they are imposing tariffs on India because India is buying Russian Oil. You are yourself buying Russian products yourself, how how can you impose your unfair trade practices on us? India never bows down to such threats. You every move will be answered."
"The aim of this boycott is the US stopped the negotiations over trade talks. It has been called to bring the US back on the negotiating table, so that we can mutually come up to a resolution."
