A major promise made by the Aam Aadmi Party government during the 2022 Punjab Assembly elections was fulfilled today. Under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s flagship scheme, money will start being credited to the bank accounts of nearly 4 million registered women across Punjab from today. The announcement was celebrated at the office of Aam Aadmi Party’s Jalandhar Central constituency in-charge, Nitin Kohli. Women present at the event thanked Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and the Aam Aadmi Party for launching an initiative aimed at honouring mothers and daughters across the state.
On the occasion, Nitin Kohli praised the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann for launching the ‘Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojana’. He said that the first installment under the scheme has started being credited to the bank accounts of eligible beneficiaries from today, calling it a historic step towards ensuring dignity and economic empowerment for women.
Kohli said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has fulfilled yet another major promise by giving a significant gift to the mothers and sisters of Punjab. Under the scheme, women belonging to the General category will receive financial assistance of ₹1,000 per month, while women from the Scheduled Caste (SC) community will receive ₹1,500 per month. He added that, as the first installment, beneficiaries are receiving payment for three months together in their bank accounts.
He further said that the scheme would provide substantial financial support to thousands of families and play a vital role in making women self-reliant. Kohli added that the Mann government remains committed to fulfilling every promise made for public welfare and is continuously working to bring positive changes to the lives of ordinary people.
Congratulating all eligible beneficiaries, Kohli urged them to take maximum advantage of the welfare schemes introduced by the Punjab government.
Government fulfilled its promise
Speaking to journalists in Jalandhar, women beneficiaries said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and the Aam Aadmi Party have fulfilled the promise they had made. They said that although several governments had come to power in the past, none had taken such a step for the welfare of women in Punjab. They added that the initiative would provide significant financial support to women across the state.
