In a significant counter-terror operation, Punjab Police’s Counter Intelligence (CI) Patiala and State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) Mohali have arrested three operatives of Babbar Khalsa International (BKI). These arrests are linked to grenade attacks on police posts — one in Badshahpur (Patiala) on April 1, 2025, and another in Azeemgarh (Haryana) on April 6, 2025.
The preliminary investigation has revealed that the arrested terrorists were acting under instructions from foreign-based BKI operatives and were working closely with Pakistan-based handlers, including the ISI. The module was not only behind the past attacks but was also actively planning further strikes on police establishments across Punjab.
• The arrested individuals were receiving directions from Manu Agwan (based in Greece) and Maninder Billa (based in Malaysia) — both operatives of BKI.
• The terror plot was being coordinated and funded by Pakistan-based terrorist Harwinder Singh Rinda in collaboration with Pakistan’s ISI.
• Police recovered 2 hand grenades and 2 pistols (.30 bore and .32 bore) from the accused.
• The module had received logistical and financial support from overseas handlers for carrying out attacks in India.
• An FIR has been registered at SSOC, Mohali, and further investigations are ongoing, with more arrests expected.
Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav confirmed the breakthrough and emphasized the force’s commitment to eliminating organized crime and safeguarding the citizens of Punjab.
