Jalandhar Police Commissioner Satinder Singh told that the city's surveillance network is playing a major role in improving law and order, controlling crime, and monitoring traffic violations.
Speaking about the police's security measures, he said that more than 900 CCTV cameras have been installed across Jalandhar, making it easier to keep a close watch on activities throughout the city.
According to the Police Commissioner, the control room remains highly active and continuously monitors live camera feeds from different parts of Jalandhar and the surveillance system helps police quickly detect suspicious activities, traffic violations, and other incidents that require immediate attention.
He said the technology has made policing more efficient and one of the key features of the system is that it can generate alerts when vehicles are found without number plates, allowing police officials to identify and track such vehicles more easily. This has strengthened security and improved the overall monitoring system in the city.
Satinder Singh also said that several locations across Jalandhar have cameras specifically installed to detect traffic rule violations and these cameras help police enforce traffic regulations and improve road safety while reducing the need for manual checking at every location.
Highlighting the impact of the surveillance network, the Commissioner said that crime control has improved significantly because of the extensive camera coverage and the system has helped police respond more effectively and maintain better vigilance across the city.
He further shared that he personally visits the police control room on a regular basis and during these visits, he spends nearly two to three hours reviewing the functioning of the surveillance system and ensuring that all operations are running smoothly.
Speaking about his own work routine, Satinder Singh said that policing is a demanding responsibility and that he works for more than 16 hours a day to ensure effective law enforcement and public safety.
The Police Commissioner also appealed to residents to follow basic traffic rules and maintain civic sense and said that if people obey traffic regulations and act responsibly, the burden on the police force can be reduced, allowing officers to focus on more important law and order duties.
He added that more than 200 personnels are currently deployed across Jalandhar and together with the CCTV surveillance network, this deployment is helping the police strengthen public safety and improve overall policing in Jalandhar.
