A snatching incident has been reported from Urban Estate Phase 2 in Jalandhar which is a well-known posh area of the city and as per the reports the incident took place near the residence of Cabinet Minister Mohinder Bhagat.
According to information an elderly woman named Lilavati was sitting outside her house along with another woman when two young men came there on a motorcycle and one of the youths got down and asked her for drinking water to which when Lilavati pointed towards a nearby park where a water tap is installed the youth suddenly snatched her earrings and ran back to the motorcycle and his accomplice was already waiting with the bike started and both quickly fled from the spot.
The entire incident was captured on a CCTV camera installed nearby and the footage clearly shows the accused snatching the earrings and escaping within seconds. Following the incident a complaint was filed with the police and police officials reached the spot and started an investigation after which the victim’s statement has been recorded and CCTV footage from the area has been collected.
Police have said that efforts are being made to identify and arrest the accused soon.
