In a move against the city’s drug network, Jalandhar Police on Monday carried out a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) under the anti-drug campaign “Yudh Nashian Virudh.”
The operation, held at 13 identified hotspots across the city, led to the registration of seven FIRs, arrest of seven accused, and recovery of narcotics, illicit liquor and vehicles.
The drive was led by Commissioner of Police Jalandhar, Dhanpreet Kaur, with Joint CP Sandeep Sharma, ADCP-1 Akarshi Jain, ADCP-2 Harinder Singh Gill and other senior officers supervising on ground. Over 130 police personnel were deployed across sensitive areas including Railway Station, Ali Mohalla, Indira Colony, Bhargo Camp, Basti Sheikh and adjoining localities. Each location was monitored by ADCP/ACP-rank officers to ensure swift action.
According to police, intensive checks were conducted on suspected individuals, houses, vehicles and nearby spots used by traffickers. The crackdown resulted in the recovery of 32.2 grams of heroin, 13,500 ml of illicit liquor, and two motorcycles believed to have been used for drug peddling.
Sharing details, CP Dhanpreet Kaur said, “Seven FIRs have been registered and equal number of accused arrested during this operation. These raids not only target the peddlers but also help us gather intelligence from residents to trace those running the supply chain.”
She further asserted that the Jalandhar Police is determined to dismantle every link of the narcotics network. “No one involved in the illegal trade will be spared. This campaign is a clear message that our fight against drugs will continue relentlessly until Punjab is free from this menace,” she added.
