With Diwali festivities around the corner, the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police have enforced strict cracker-bursting timings from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM across the city to ensure a safe and peaceful festive season.
Residents are urged to use the 112 helpline in case of any emergency, including accidents, firecracker-related incidents, traffic snarls, or suspicious activity. Quick reporting via the helpline will enable police to respond promptly and prevent untoward incidents.
"We will strictly enforce cracker timings, and the 112 helpline is available for any emergency. Residents’ vigilance and cooperation are crucial to ensure a safe Diwali,” said a senior police officer.
Police presence has been intensified in markets, residential areas, and major intersections, with high-tech checkpoints, active patrolling, and Public Address Systems (PAS) broadcasting safety messages, traffic instructions, and permitted celebration timings.
"By enforcing strict cracker rules and reminding residents to use the 112 helpline in emergencies, we aim to make this Diwali secure, smooth, and joyous for all citizens", said police officials.
