In the latest development in the high-profile murder case of social media influencer Kanchan Kumari also known as Kamal Kaur ‘Bhabhi’ a local court has rejected two key applications filed by Bathinda Police against the main accused Amritpal Singh Mehron.

Court dismisses police’s request

According to Advocate Manpreet Singh counsel for Amritpal Singh Mehron the police had approached the court seeking permission to collect Mehron’s voice samples and to conduct an identification parade however the Honorable Court dismissed both requests.

Defence confident of acquittal

The advocate further stated that during the hearing the police also did not ask for Mehron’s remand and added that the defence has full faith in the judicial process and is confident that Amritpal Singh Mehron will be acquitted.

Case background

The case relates to the murder of Ludhiana-based influencer Kanchan Kumari who was widely known online as Kamal Kaur ‘Bhabhi’ who had a significant social media following and had reportedly received threats in the past over her content.

Two accused: Jaspreet Singh and Nimratjit Singh were arrested earlier while Amritpal Singh Mehron had been absconding for months and was later detained in the UAE in January 2026 during a visa-related inquiry and after completing legal and deportation procedures he has now been handed over to Punjab Police.
