Actress turned politician, BJP MP Kangana Ranaut was scheduled to appear in Bathinda court today in regards to an ongoing defamation case. As per reports, Kangana failed to appear before court. Amid her absence, the court has reserved its order regarding further proceedings in the case. Keeping in view the sensitivity of the case, elaborate security arrangements were made.
Kangana’s lawyer was present in the court and presented with the reasoning as to why she did not attend the hearing. The petitioner’s side objected to Kangana’s repeated absence from court and demanded a strict stance on the same.
The case stems from Kangana’s comment made on social media during the farmer’s protest against the farm laws in Delhi, acting on which Mahinder Kaur, a Bathinda resident had filed a defamation case against her. Allegedly, the petitioner had objected to the post where Kangana writes that she was ‘available for Rs 100’. The petitioner alleges that Kangana Ranaut’s comments were a direct attack to her reputation.
