Punjab woman who went missing, married a Pakistani man held; deportation underway

Sarabjit Kaur had deviated from Sikh jatha on her visit to Pakistan and later on went to marry a Pakistani national, Nasir Hussain.

Sarabjit Kaur, an Indian Sikh woman, who went to Pakistan via Wagah border on November 4, 2025 along with other Sikh pilgrims for Guru Nanak Dev’s 556th birth anniversary has been arrested by the Pakistani authorities. Her Pakistani husband, Nasir Hussain has also been taken into custody.

As per latest reports, Sarabjit is expected to be deported to India via Attari Border. Sarabjit Kaur had deviated from the jatha while on her visit and later on went to marry a Pakistani national, Nasir Hussain. She had converted to Islam and changed her name to Noor Hussain.

The Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (PSGPC) and Ramesh Singh Arora, a minister of the Pakistani Punjab government has confirmed to Sarabjit’s arrest. The minister has added that a joint team of Intelligence Bureau and local police conducted through operations on January 4, in Pehre Wali a village located within the district of Nankana Sahib. The authorities are now all set to deport Sarabjit to India.

Former MLA Mahindar Pall Singh condemns Sarbjit’s actions   

Former Pakistan MLA Mahindar Pall Singh talking about the issue says, no one should ever use religion as shield to fulfil their personal motives. He says that the said act by Sarabjit was condemned worldwide. He affirms that Sarbjit Kaur has been arrested a day before the Parkash Parv of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. He further claims that he has no problem with Sarabjit converting to Islam, but rather the path she took to do so. He says that she took this step under the guise of a religious procession which is not acceptable at all.
