Punjab Government has announced that the first payment under “Mukh Mantri Mawan-Dhiyan Satkar Yojana” will be released on July 1, 2026 through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system and while around 52 lakh women are expected to receive financial assistance the government says the scheme will cover nearly 97% of state's female population ultimately meaning about 3% of women will not be eligible.

Who will receive the first payment?

Under the scheme eligible women will receive financial support every month and women from General Category will receive ₹1,000 per month and women from Scheduled Caste (SC) category will receive ₹1,500 per month and since this is the first installment the government will release the amount for three months together. So, General Category beneficiaries will get ₹3,000 while SC Category beneficiaries will get ₹4,500. The money will be transferred directly into beneficiaries' bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.

Who will not get the money?

The 3% of women are mainly those who fall under government's exclusion criteria and the following people are not eligible for the scheme:

  • Current government employees

  • Retired government employees

  • Income-tax payers

  • Members of Parliament (MPs)

  • Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs)

  • Wives of current ministers, MPs and MLAs

Women who do not meet basic eligibility conditions such as being a permanent resident of Punjab, being 18 years or older or having an Aadhaar card linked to their bank account will also not qualify unless they complete the required conditions.
