A late-night shooting incident in Amritsar’s Chheharta area left a youth, identified as Sagar alias Love, seriously injured. The victim sustained gunshot wounds after an unidentified assailant opened fire on him.
As per the initial reports, the incident took place while the youth was standing outside his house with his sister, when a masked man arrived on an Activa, fired a shot, and fled the scene. Reportedly, the bullet struck the victim in the stomach and he was immediately rushed to Amandeep Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment, and his condition is said to be stable.
ACP Shiv Darshan, who reached the spot, sharing information about the incident said that the police are investigating the case from all possible angles, “No prior enmity or threat has come to light so far and CCTV footage from the area is being examined and some important leads have been found,” he said. The ACP also clarified that no confirmed gangster link has emerged yet and assured that the accused will be identified and arrested soon.
Currently, police have intensified the investigation and security has been increased in the area following the incident.
