A dispute broke out between traffic police personnel and a young taxi driver near Apeejay School after his car was stopped at a checkpoint with the man alleging that his pregnant wife was experiencing severe pain.
According to the young man he was rushing his wife to a private hospital when police officials intercepted their vehicle and when he asked why he had been stopped he was told that he was not wearing a seatbelt.
The driver alleged that he requested the officers to issue a challan and allow him to leave quickly due to the emergency however he claimed that the police instead detained the vehicle while his wife remained inside the car in severe pain.
He further alleged that he showed the officers his wife’s medical reports to explain the situation but they insisted on checking the vehicle documents instead of letting them go and the man also claimed that he could smell alcohol on the breath of some officers present at the spot.
During the incident the man began recording a video of the situation and alleged that after noticing the recording the traffic official in charge asked a subordinate to leave and soon after locked the traffic booth and left the scene.
The young man who was reportedly heading to a private hospital said he made repeated appeals to the police but did not receive any help and visibly emotional he said that if any harm comes to his wife he would hold the concerned officers accountable. Now the said video is going viral on social media and gaining traction online.
