

The redevelopment work at Jalandhar Cantt Railway Station is in its final stage and Union Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu visited the station to review the preparations ahead of its inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his visit, Railway Board officials and BJP leaders welcomed Bittu by presenting him with flower, officials reviewed the ongoing work and inspected the arrangements being made for the inauguration ceremony.
The redevelopment of Jalandhar Cantt Railway Station has been carried out at a cost of approximately ₹98.89 crore. According to officials, the project is almost complete, with only the final finishing work remaining before the station is ready for inauguration.
Speaking to the media, Ravneet Singh Bittu said that the Railways is making all necessary preparations for the inauguration, which will be carried out by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he also said that railway stations across the country that are ready under the redevelopment programme will also be inaugurated by the Prime Minister.
Bittu said that Jalandhar Cantt Railway Station is one of the railway stations included in the redevelopment project and noted that the station has completed 100 years of service and has now been upgraded under the government's railway modernisation initiative.
The Union Minister said that it is common for minor shortcomings to arise in large infrastructure projects and added that officials are working to identify and fix any remaining issues before the inauguration.
He also said that BJP leaders and the administration are making preparations in Punjab ahead of the planned inauguration programme and according to him, there is excitement among people regarding the Prime Minister's proposed visit to the state.
During his interaction with the media, Bittu also said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is being honoured with awards by different countries around the world, added that the BJP leadership would remain engaged in Punjab over the coming days as preparations continue.
On the Prime Minister's visit, Bittu confirmed that Narendra Modi is expected to come to Jalandhar to inaugurate the redeveloped railway station however, he clarified that he could not confirm the exact date at present and said the schedule could change if required. The Union Minister also said that Prime Minister Modi is expected to inaugurate all railway stations that are ready under the redevelopment programme by the 17th however, he did not announce a confirmed date for the Jalandhar event.
The ₹98.89 crore redevelopment project is part of the ongoing effort to modernize old railway stations by improving passenger facilities and upgrading station infrastructure, with the work now in its final stage, officials are completing the remaining finishing touches before the inauguration takes place.
