

Punjab has been witnessing chilling winters ever since the month of December has started. In general, Punjab and other North Indian states witness peak winters in December and January. Till now (December 10), Punjab is yet to witness or record dense fog as the state is witnessing sunny afternoons. It is during the nigh-time that temperature is recorded in single digit.
However, it seems like Punjab Winter is likely to intensify in the coming days. The India Meteorological Department of Chandigarh unit has put multiple districts of Punjab on yellow alert for 'dense fog'.
IMD Chandigarh on Wednesday (December 10) issued dense fog alert in Punjab from December 12 to December 14, 2025.
December 12- Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Rupnagar
December 13- Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Nawanshahr, Rupnagar, Mohali, Fatehgarh Sahib, and Patiala
December 14- Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Nawanshahr, Rupnagar, Mohali, Fatehgarh Sahib, and Patiala
Punjab on December 10 witnessed similar kind of chilling weather as it has recorded in the past few days. As per IMD Chandigarh, Faridkot was the coldest district in Punjab with 4.5°C lowest temperature. Check district wise lowest temperature below-
